AN INTERVENTION TO ENHANCE OCCUPATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF CHILDREN WITH OBSTETRICAL BRACHIAL PLEXUS PALSY

چکیده
Purpose: Children with obstetric brachial plexus palsy (OBPP) have problems activity and participation, even if they are operated. The study aimed to investigate the intervention's effects increase occupational performance (OP) of children OBPP. Methods: Twenty-nine OBPP, aged 4-7 years, participated in this study. intervention group consisted six girls 12 boys, a control was composed eight three boys. Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) determined children's OP. Pediatric Evaluation Disability Inventory (PEDI) used evaluate functional capability. All subjects continued their traditional physiotherapy program 45 minutes every two days. an program, consisting families' needs, expectations, therapists' assessment, about OP 40 per day days week for months. Results: PEDI self-care, mobility, social function, total scores COPM-performance COPM-satisfaction significantly increased (p<0.05). improved (p<0.05, Table 1). There significant difference self-care (p=0.020) (p=0.009) between groups. no (p>0.05). Conclusions: present is first on suggests intervening enhance via assessing using COPM

Cortical dysplasia and obstetrical brachial plexus palsy.
We report 2 patients with obstetrical brachial plexus palsy, ipsilateral leg weakness, and contralateral motor cortical dysplasia. To our knowledge, this is the first description of such an association. In both cases, the diagnosis of obstetrical brachial plexus palsy was established clinically shortly after birth and later confirmed neurophysiologically. Motor cortex dysplasia was diagnosed by...

INTRODUCTION Several recent studies demonstrate that upper extremities kinematics analysis is in increasing use to assist clinical practice. We describe an upper limb kinematics analysis protocol that was first applied to a group of healthy children (to obtain normative data), and subsequently, to a child presenting with obstetrical brachial plexus palsy (OBPP) before and after surgical treatme...

Dear Editor, The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the option of triceps muscle restoration by means of selective neurotisation of the radial nerve in children suffering from obstetrical brachial plexus palsy (OBPP) during their early years of life. Early nerve surgery, which includes both brachial plexus reconstruction and nerve transfers, is generally accepted as the best option for treatin...
متن کاملThe active movement scale: an evaluative tool for infants with obstetrical brachial plexus palsy.
Newborns with peripheral nerve lesions involving the upper extremity are difficult to evaluate. The reliability of the Active Movement Scale (AMS), a tool for assessing motor function in infants with obstetrical brachial plexus palsy (OBPP), was examined in 2 complementary studies. Part A was an interrater reliability study in which 63 infants younger than 1 year with OBPP were independently ev...
